Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support educational programs within a structured learning environment. The ideal candidate will assist teachers with classroom activities, student supervision, lesson preparation, and academic support while fostering a safe, positive, and engaging learning atmosphere for students in grades 6–12.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organization.
- Prepare, distribute, and collect instructional materials and assignments.
- Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups.
- Assist with classroom management and daily educational activities.
- Support students who require accommodations or additional assistance.
- Help students understand assignments, coursework, and challenging concepts.
- Assist students with special learning needs, including disabilities and English Language Learners (ELL).
- Collaborate with teachers to identify student challenges and support strategies.
- Monitor student behavior and promote a safe, respectful learning environment.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and educational guidelines.
- Encourage student engagement, participation, and academic growth.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Teacher Assistant Training Program Certificate or at least six (6) months of related experience.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
- Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic educational environment.
- Ability to effectively engage students in grades 6–12.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in classroom instruction, educational support, or teaching practices.
- Experience working with students with special needs.
- Experience supporting English Language Learner (ELL) students.
- Understanding of educational best practices and classroom management techniques.
- Experience in alternative education, youth services, or structured learning environments.
